Shirley joined Fluid in January 2017. She gained a Diplome d’Etat d’Architecte with distinction from Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Paris – Val de Seine in 2009.
Shirley has a bottom-up experience of place-making.

She started work with designing and building community-oriented meanwhile projects taking place in regeneration schemes, in London (The Dalston Mill, by EXYZT), in Marseille (for Marseille – Provence European Capital of Culture 2013 with raumlaborberlin) and in Glasgow (Playhouse, with Baxendale Design Studio).
On these occasions, she listened to local residents’ fears and hopes for the future of their home. She appreciates that place-making greatly influences the future perception of an area, its identity, and that it can play a major role in enhancing local people’s quality of life on many aspects.

While assisting on the Culture Mile Look and Feel Strategy and being involved in research and production of drawings, she has developed a strong understanding of the place-making process and of the character of the urban and social context. Along with analytic content, she produces high quality visuals that succeed to illustrate and communicate the strategy to a large audience.

Shirley is the day-to-day lead currently on the Westway Urban Design Strategy.
